The Baltimore Orioles back end of the bullpen weapon Felix Bautista, otherwise known as “The Mountain”, is ready for his next step in recovery following tommy john surgery. He underwent the procedure in August of 2023, missed all of last season, and now is ready for his first taste of live game action.
Felix Bautista is scheduled to make his 2025 spring training debut
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters that Bautista will pitch in live game action on Monday, March 3. The 6’8″ flamethrowing righty was capable of consistently hitting 99-100 MPH prior to his elbow injury. Reports so far on his velocity is that he is sitting in the mid 90s.
A huge addition back for the Baltimore Orioles
When Bautista was out last year, they utilized a combination of Craig Kimbrel and Seranthony Dominguez to close out games. Bautista is the favorite to regain the role right off that bat as in 2023 he accumulated 33 saves and had a 1.48 ERA before getting injured.
If Bautista does indeed make his spring training debut on Monday, then he will face the Boston Red Sox. That game will begin at 1:05 PM EST and will be aired on MASN as well as ESPN.
