The Cleveland Guardians have been connected to quite a few rumors leading up to the 2025 MLB trade deadline on July 31. Ahead of the deadline, there are a few players on the roster who could become top-tier trade targets for contenders around the league.
One of those potential trade targets is none other than star closer Emmanuel Clase. Steven Kwan is another name that has been brought up as a possible target for teams.
Clase got off to a slow start to the 2025 MLB season. He has been able to start turning things around in recent weeks. Due to his strong play of late, he has become a hot candidate for a potential trade.
With that in mind, the Guardians have received a strong prediction about Clase with under two weeks to go until the deadline.
Cleveland Guardians Get Strong Emmanuel Clase Prediction Before 2025 Trade Deadline
The Athletic has weighed in with their prediction about Clase’s future. They believe that he will get traded, but not ahead of the deadline.

Instead, they have predicted that Clase will be traded this coming winter during the offseason.
“Emmannuel Clase has 3 1/2 years of team control, all for less than $30 million total, a bargain for a top closer. There’s a horde of contenders desperately trying to convince Cleveland to move him — and odds are, they will — just not quite yet. Cleveland needs some bats. The Guardians could have more suitors in the offseason, when more teams have designs to contend and could talk themselves into forking over a haul for a long-term solution at closer.”
Throughout the course of the 2025 MLB season thus far, Clase has appeared in 44 games. He has compiled a 5-2 record to go along with a 2.86 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, a 4.4 K/BB ratio, 21 saves, a hold, and four blown saves.
At just 27 years old, Clase would be a long-term addition for anyone who acquires him. He may not get traded before the deadline this month, but he’s still a name worth monitoring closely.
